This is always a great event, put it on your calendars to come check it out!
If you go to the main DePaul website, you will see our own Dr. Griffin (see the snapshot below)! From the whiteboard, it looks like he is teaching thermodynamics (covered in 2nd and 3rd quarter general chemistry). Dr. Griffin teaches general chemistry, analytical chemistry and physical chemistry for the department. We are proud to have our faculty highlighted in such a great way!
Put it on your calendars! Come meet the faculty, staff, and students of our department and find out what we’re all about. There will be food too! We will post the room as the event gets closer.
Cesar Saucedo is a chemistry major (BS 2018) who does research in Dr. Grice’s lab. He recently was awarded an Scholarship through the ACS Scholars Program, which covers up to $5000 in tuition. Congratulations Cesar!
If you are eligible, we highly recommend checking out the ACS Scholars Program, which has a due date in the spring (March 1)
As the quarter starts, we’d like to remind everyone that the Department wouldn’t be what it is without the hard work of our staff members. They keep things moving smoothly and provide key services for our students and faculty. If you see them around, be sure to say hi and thank them for all of their hard work!
In fact, at the end of last academic year, our Department of Chemistry staff won the Annual Staff Recognition award from the University! Department Assistant Nicole Hack was nominated for her excellence in “planning, organization, and written communication”. Lab and Safety Manager Sara Rocus was noted to have “gone above and beyond in ensuring that labs are well prepared, chemical wastes are properly collected and all teaching labs are run safely”. Lab and Instrumentation Manager Bill Schjerven’s nomination notes the “outstanding job” he’s done maintaining and repairing department equipment.
Congratulations to our excellent staff!
